Drops of Sunshine - Daily Bread

 

 

 

 

 You can tell when someone didn't really want to give you something or when they didn't put much thought into something they give you. It's more meaningful when we're able to show that we care. The same goes for anything we give to others, but to our time with God as well. Shift from a compulsory way of thinking and do it because you want to. 

I've encountered people that are so ecstatic about their good fortune that they forget about God. I've also encountered others who are so despondent that they forget about God. What both remind me of is the importance of incorporating an attitude of gratitude toward God daily. If it's not conditional and it's a part of my lifestyle, then it really does become a simple thing to do each day that enriches my daily living.  Just like my daily ADL's, my day can't really start until I spend just a moment expressing my thanks to God.

 When we find ourselves troubled or struggling to find the good in our situation, a healthy place to begin is to meditate on the splendor of God. He's too great of a God to share the glory with negativity. Delight in him and turn over those woes and worries to him. 

 Growing up in church, I would always hear different people testify and share how good God was in their lives. I never truly understood this "good". He was GOD. Shouldn't it be a stronger word to describe him? It wasn't until I began to trust in God for me that I began to truly understand the challenge of trying to describe a God who is simply indescribable. But a God who, himself, uses the word to describe his creations lets me know that it's the perfect descriptor for him. He's just good! And there is always something we can thank him for.
